Linear Flora is inspired by the number “three” from the bougainvillea, the flower of Pingtung County. Apart from the three bougainvillea petals seen from below the artwork, variations and the multiples of three could be spotted in different aspects. To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Taiwan Lantern Festival, Lighting design artist Ray Teng Pai was invited by Cultural Affairs Department of Pingtung County to create an unconventional lantern, the unique combination of form and technology, sending a message of transforming the heritage of the festival and connecting it with the future.
This design is based on the concept of nature and then enhanced in the details of the layout. Because the customer is the same as ours, the workflow is very important. Aggregate is a floor lamp collection of three unique silhouettes classically sculpted with a variety of recycled materials: plastic, concrete, and steel. Each piece strategically uses height and the angle of the LED tube bulbs to evenly diffuse refracted light into any large space. The resulting design is organic yet commanding, providing the bold emission of light from each distinct form.
Frutta is a floor lamp that takes up the form of a fruit tree. Users can pick the lights off of the tree as if they were fruits, creating an intimate and nostalgic experience between humans and lighting. Frutta is a modular system, allowing lights to be detached from the main floor lamp unit and reattached to optional cradles giving users control over how light expresses itself throughout a space. Frutta promises to enrich your life by offering limitless lighting solutions made possible by combining clever design with a bit of your imagination.
Flex Light is a series of household luminaries that includes two table lamps and one floor lamp. It has a simplified form and is flexible and adaptable for different using scenarios. Under the effect of novel magnetic suction structure, the illuminate can be connected with the stand, smoothly adjusted in any direction, separated for individual use and attached to other surfaces. The materials in these products are natural wood which retain the nature texture and a delicate touch.
The Lory Duck is designed as a suspension system assembled from modules made of brass and epoxy glass, each resembling a duck sliding effortlessly through cool waters. The modules also offer configurability; with a touch, each can be adjusted to face any direction and hang at any height. The basic shape of the lamp was born relatively quickly. However, it needed months of research and development with countless prototypes to create its perfect balance and the best look from all possible angles.
